Possible Causes

Failed drain pump motor (on pump models), Clogged drain hose, Kinked or improperly sloped drain line, Blocked internal drain port

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Unplug the unit before working on the drain system. Water may spill; protect flooring.

  • Step 1 – Identify drain type: Determine if your U-Line ice maker uses a gravity drain or an internal drain pump (check model specs).
  • Step 2 – Inspect internal drain: Remove the ice bin and look for the drain opening at the bottom. Clear any ice, debris, or scale buildup using warm water and a soft brush.
  • Step 3 – Check external hose: Follow the drain hose from the unit to the household drain. Ensure it is not kinked, elevated above the unit (for gravity systems), or blocked.
  • Step 4 – Test drain pump (if equipped): During a drain cycle, listen for the pump motor. If silent or just humming, the pump may be seized or failed.
  • Step 5 – Access and replace pump: Remove the lower front panel to access the drain pump. Disconnect power and water. Remove hose clamps and electrical connectors, then replace with a U-Line compatible drain pump. Reconnect hoses securely.

After repair, pour a small amount of water into the bin area and confirm it drains quickly without leaks or E11 returning.
