Possible Causes

Loose UI harness connection, Failed touchpad or display board, Moisture intrusion into control panel, Faulty main control board communication circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Disconnect power before removing the door panel or control panel trim. Handle electronic boards by the edges.

  • Step 1 – Power reset: Unplug the unit or switch off the breaker for 5 minutes. Restore power and check if E12 clears temporarily.
  • Step 2 – Inspect control panel: Check for signs of moisture, condensation, or physical damage on the display or keypad area.
  • Step 3 – Access UI board: Remove the door trim or control panel screws to expose the user interface board. Do not pull on the ribbon cable.
  • Step 4 – Reseat connectors: Disconnect and reconnect the ribbon cable or harness between the UI and main control. Ensure it is fully seated and not pinched.
  • Step 5 – Replace UI board: If E12 persists and buttons do not respond, replace the user interface/display board with the correct U-Line part.

If a new UI board does not resolve E12, the main control board may have a communication fault and should be replaced by a technician.
