Possible Causes

Failed magnetic reed switch or mechanical door switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken switch wiring, Loose connector at control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Disconnect power before removing door gaskets or panels. Be careful not to damage the door seal.

  • Step 1 – Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and the gasket is not interfering. Look for items in the bin preventing full closure.
  • Step 2 – Locate door switch: On many U-Line models, a magnetic reed switch is hidden in the cabinet frame, with a magnet in the door. Others use a plunger-style switch.
  • Step 3 – Test switch: With power off, access the switch and disconnect its wires. Measure continuity while opening and closing the door (or moving a magnet near the reed switch). Replace if it does not change state.
  • Step 4 – Verify magnet alignment: Ensure the door magnet is present and aligned with the switch location. Reposition or replace if missing.
  • Step 5 – Replace switch: Install a new U-Line door switch or reed sensor, reconnect wiring, and secure in place.

After replacement, restore power and confirm the door status on the display is correct and E13 is cleared.
