Possible Causes
Open or shorted bin thermistor, Damaged thermistor harness, Corroded connector at control, Failed control board sensor circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the unit before accessing interior panels. Avoid puncturing insulation or refrigerant lines.
- Step 1 – Locate bin thermistor: The bin or cabinet thermistor is usually mounted on the interior wall or behind a small cover near the ice bin.
- Step 2 – Inspect wiring: Check the thermistor leads for damage or disconnection. Reseat the connector at both the sensor and control board.
- Step 3 – Test thermistor: Remove the sensor from the circuit and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to U-Line’s resistance chart. Replace if reading is open, shorted, or far off spec.
- Step 4 – Replace thermistor: Install the new sensor in the same location, ensuring good contact with the wall if required. Route wiring away from moving parts.
If E14 persists with a known-good thermistor, the main control board may need replacement.
