Ice maker produces hollow or very small ice cubes

Safety First: Turn off water and power before disconnecting water lines.

• Step 1 – Check water pressure: Ensure the supply line is at least 1/4" and not shared with high-demand appliances. Low pressure can cause hollow cubes.
• Step 2 – Clean inlet screen: Remove the water line at the inlet valve and clean any debris from the valve screen.
• Step 3 – Descale water system: Run a full cleaning cycle with ice machine cleaner to remove scale from the reservoir, distribution tube, and evaporator.
• Step 4 – Verify fill level: Observe the fill cycle. The water should cover the evaporator grid evenly. If adjustable, follow the service manual to set proper fill volume.

Persistent hollow cubes after these steps may indicate a failing inlet valve or control timing issue.
