Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Disconnect power and turn off water before disassembling. Avoid contact with moving fan blades and hot compressor surfaces.
- Step 1 – Verify water supply: Confirm the shutoff valve is open and the supply line is not kinked. Test water flow by disconnecting the line at the unit and briefly opening the valve into a bucket.
- Step 2 – Check for ice on evaporator: Remove the bin and inner cover. After 20–30 minutes of operation, the evaporator plate should be evenly frosted. If it is warm, suspect a refrigeration issue.
- Step 3 – Inspect evaporator for scale: Heavy white mineral buildup can prevent ice from forming or releasing. Use U-Line approved ice machine cleaner to descale the plate following the product instructions.
- Step 4 – Test water inlet valve: Listen for the fill cycle. If silent and no water enters, test and replace the inlet valve as needed.
If the evaporator never gets cold or the compressor does not run, a sealed-system or control fault is likely and requires a technician.
