Possible Causes
Clogged internal drain port, Frozen drain line, Misaligned drain hose, Excessive frost causing meltwater overflow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Disconnect power before working inside the cabinet. Use towels to protect flooring.
- Step 1 – Clear drain opening: Remove the ice bin and locate the drain hole. Flush with warm (not boiling) water to melt ice and clear debris.
- Step 2 – Check drain hose routing: Ensure the internal hose slopes downward without kinks. Adjust clamps and routing as needed.
- Step 3 – Defrost frozen drain: If the drain line is frozen, leave the unit off with the door open and place towels to catch meltwater. Do not use sharp tools to chip ice.
- Step 4 – Inspect for recurring frost: Excess frost may indicate a door gasket leak or frequent door openings. Repair gasket issues to prevent re-freezing.
After clearing, pour a cup of water into the bin area and confirm it drains quickly.
