Display shows E10; ice maker stops; fan noises may be abnormal or absent.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing the evaporator compartment. Beware of sharp fins and ice.
Steps to resolve E10:
- Access evaporator fan: Remove the inner rear panel or top cover inside the ice-making compartment to expose the evaporator coil and fan.
- Check for ice obstruction: Look for ice buildup around the fan shroud or blades. If present, defrost the unit completely by leaving it unplugged with the door open and towels to catch water.
- Inspect fan blades: Spin the fan by hand. It should rotate freely without grinding or sticking. If stiff, the motor bearings may be worn.
- Verify wiring: Check the fan motor connector and wiring harness for damage or loose connections. Reseat the plug at the motor and PCB.
- Test motor voltage: With the unit powered and calling for cooling (only if you are trained and it is safe), measure voltage at the fan motor terminals. If correct voltage is present but the fan does not run, replace the evaporator fan motor.
- Reassemble and test: After replacing the motor or clearing ice, reassemble panels, restore power, and confirm that the fan runs and E10 clears.
Note: Persistent ice buildup around the fan may indicate a defrost or drainage issue that should also be investigated.
