Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the ice maker before accessing the control compartment. Electronic boards are sensitive to static electricity.
Steps to address E12:
- Power reset: Disconnect power for at least 10 minutes to allow capacitors to discharge. Reconnect and check if E12 clears.
- Inspect wiring: Remove the control panel cover and verify that all ribbon cables and harness connectors between the display board and main control PCB are fully seated and not damaged.
- Check for moisture: Look for signs of condensation or water ingress around the control area. Dry gently with a hairdryer on low heat if moisture is present, keeping a safe distance.
- Look for burn marks: Examine the main PCB for burnt components, bulging capacitors, or corrosion. If found, the board must be replaced.
- Replace PCB: If E12 persists after reseating connectors and drying, replace the main control PCB with the correct Vestfrost part number. Transfer any configuration jumpers as per the service manual.
Note: After PCB replacement, some models require configuration or calibration; follow Vestfrost service instructions.
