Possible Causes

Water leak into base pan triggering float switch, Cracked water reservoir or hose, Faulty leak detection float switch, Loose hose clamp on internal tubing

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the ice maker and close the water supply valve immediately if a leak is suspected.

Steps to address E17:

  • Inspect base pan: Remove the lower front or rear panel and check the base of the unit for standing water. Mop up all water and dry the area.
  • Locate leak source: With the water supply still off, inspect all internal hoses, the water reservoir, inlet valve, and pump connections for cracks, loose clamps, or mineral tracks indicating leaks.
  • Tighten/replace components: Tighten any loose hose clamps. Replace cracked hoses, reservoir, or fittings with genuine Vestfrost parts.
  • Check leak float switch: If equipped, test the base pan float switch with a multimeter for proper open/closed operation as the float moves. Replace the leak detection float switch if faulty.
  • Test under observation: Turn the water supply back on and briefly power the unit while watching for leaks. Be ready to shut off water immediately if a leak reappears.

Warning: Do not ignore leak errors; water damage and electrical hazards can result.
