Possible Causes

Blocked condenser coil with dust, Failed condenser fan motor, Ice maker installed with insufficient ventilation, High ambient room temperature above specification

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the ice maker and allow it to cool before touching the condenser area. Metal parts may be hot.

Steps to address E6:

  • Check installation: Verify that the Vestfrost ice maker has the required clearance around the sides, back, and top as specified in the manual. Move it away from walls or cabinets if necessary.
  • Clean condenser coil: Remove the lower front grille or rear panel to access the condenser. Use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint from the fins. Do not bend the fins.
  • Inspect condenser fan: Confirm that the condenser fan spins freely by hand. Look for obstructions such as plastic wrap or insulation. With power restored briefly, verify that the fan runs when the compressor starts. If it does not, replace the condenser fan motor.
  • Check ambient temperature: Measure the room temperature. If it is above the Vestfrost maximum (often around 38–40°C), relocate the unit to a cooler area or improve ventilation.
  • Reset and test: After cleaning and ensuring proper airflow, allow the unit to cool for 30–60 minutes, then restore power and run a test cycle. If E6 returns quickly, the high-pressure switch or control board may be faulty and should be checked by a technician.

Warning: Do not bypass any overheat or high-pressure safety devices; this can cause compressor failure or fire.
