Possible Causes
Blocked or dirty bin full infrared sensor, Misaligned bin sensor bracket, Failed bin full microswitch (mechanical arm type), Broken wiring to bin sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before working near moving parts or electrical connectors.
Steps to address E8:
- Empty and inspect bin: Remove all ice from the storage bin. Check for large clumps of ice that may be blocking the bin full sensor or arm.
- Clean sensor lenses: For optical sensors, locate the emitter and receiver on opposite sides of the bin opening. Clean both lenses with a soft, damp cloth to remove frost, dust, or mineral deposits.
- Check mechanical arm: If your Vestfrost model uses a mechanical bin arm, ensure it moves freely and is not jammed by ice or bent. The arm should return to its resting position when the bin is empty.
- Inspect wiring and bracket: Verify that the sensor bracket is firmly mounted and aligned. Check the wiring harness for damage and reseat the connector at the control board.
- Test switch (if applicable): Use a multimeter to test continuity of the bin full microswitch when the arm is up vs. down. Replace the ice bin full sensor assembly if faulty.
- Power up and test: Restore power and run a cycle. Confirm that the unit now recognizes the bin as empty and begins ice production.
Note: Do not tape or permanently bypass the bin full sensor; this can cause overfilling and damage.
