Possible Causes

Scale buildup on evaporator preventing release, Faulty harvest motor or mechanism, Stuck ice curtain or grid, Insufficient hot gas or defrost during harvest

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit and allow sharp ice edges to melt slightly before working near the evaporator.

Steps to restore harvest:

  • Descale evaporator: Clean the evaporator plate thoroughly with an approved descaler to remove mineral buildup that can glue ice to the surface.
  • Check ice curtain/grid: Ensure the ice curtain or grid can swing or move freely and is not jammed by ice or debris.
  • Inspect harvest motor: Access the harvest motor and linkage. Look for broken gears or disconnected arms. Replace the harvest motor assembly if it does not run when commanded.
  • Observe a cycle: After cleaning and reassembly, watch a full cycle to confirm that ice releases and falls into the bin.

Note: If mechanical parts move correctly but ice still sticks, a technician should check the hot gas valve and refrigeration performance.
