Possible Causes

Normal self-test indication, User misinterpreting code, Temporary power interruption, Control board just completed diagnostic cycle

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power to the ice maker before removing any panels. Use a non-contact voltage tester to confirm power is off.

On many Viking undercounter ice makers, E0 is not a fault but a status code indicating no active error after self-diagnostics.

  • Step 1 – Power cycle correctly: Turn the unit OFF at the control, unplug it (or switch off the breaker) for 5 minutes, then restore power and turn it ON. Observe if E0 clears and the unit begins normal operation (water fill, pump, compressor).
  • Step 2 – Check user manual: Confirm that E0 is listed as a “no error” or “normal” code for your specific Viking model. Many owners mistake this for a fault.
  • Step 3 – Verify basic operation: Listen for the water inlet valve click and water entering the reservoir, then the circulation pump and compressor starting within a few minutes. If all functions start, the code is informational only.
  • Step 4 – Reset to factory defaults (if available): Some models allow a control reset via a button combination. Follow the service manual to clear stored codes.

If the unit shows E0 but does not run at all (no pump, no compressor, no fan), the issue is likely elsewhere (power supply, control board, or safety switches) and not the E0 code itself.
