Possible Causes
Faulty bin thermistor or level sensor, Sensor covered with ice or debris, Disconnected sensor wiring, Control board not responding to bin full signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before working in the bin area. Ice can be heavy; use a scoop to remove it.
- Step 1 – Empty bin: Remove excess ice so you can access the bin sensor.
- Step 2 – Clean sensor: Wipe the bin thermistor or optical/level sensor with a soft cloth and warm water to remove frost or scale.
- Step 3 – Inspect wiring: Check the harness from the sensor to the control board for damage or loose connections.
- Step 4 – Test/replace sensor: If the sensor is a thermistor, test resistance; if optical, inspect for cracks or moisture inside the housing. Replace the sensor assembly if defective.
After repair, restore power and confirm that ice production stops when the bin is full.
