Viking
Thin Ice / Low Water Level
Ice maker makes ice but cubes are too small or thin
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Low water pressure, Partially clogged water inlet valve, Misadjusted ice thickness control, Faulty water level sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off water and power before disconnecting any water lines.
- Step 1 – Check water pressure: Ensure the supply line is at the recommended pressure (typically 20–120 psi). Avoid self-piercing saddle valves; use a full-port valve.
- Step 2 – Clean inlet valve screen: Remove the supply line at the valve and clean any debris from the screen.
- Step 3 – Verify reservoir level: During fill, confirm that the water reservoir reaches the proper level. If consistently low, test and replace the water level sensor or float assembly.
- Step 4 – Adjust ice thickness: If your Viking model has an ice thickness adjustment, increase the setting slightly to allow a thicker slab before harvest.
After adjustments, allow several cycles for the new ice thickness to stabilize.
