How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety warning: Disconnect the ice maker from power before removing covers. Sharp metal edges may be present; wear cut-resistant gloves.

Steps to diagnose and fix:

  • 1. Reset the unit: Unplug for 10–15 minutes, then reconnect. If E2 reappears, proceed.
  • 2. Access the evaporator area: Remove the top or side cover to expose the ice-making chamber. The evaporator is the cold metal grid/plate where ice forms. The evaporator sensor is usually clipped or glued to this plate.
  • 3. Inspect the sensor: Look for a small probe or bead sensor attached to the evaporator with a clip or thermal paste. Ensure it is firmly attached and not hanging loose. Re-clip or reattach if necessary.
  • 4. Check wiring: Trace the sensor wires back to the control board. Look for broken insulation, pulled connectors, or corrosion. Reseat the connector on the board.
  • 5. Test resistance: With the sensor unplugged and the unit still disconnected from power, measure resistance across the sensor leads. Compare to typical NTC values at the current temperature. An open or shorted reading indicates a failed sensor.
  • 6. Replace the sensor: If readings are abnormal or the sensor is physically damaged, install a new Vremi evaporator NTC temperature sensor. Use thermal paste or the original clip to ensure good contact with the evaporator surface.
  • 7. Evaluate the control board: If a new sensor does not clear E2, the main control board may not be reading the sensor correctly. Inspect for burnt components and replace the board if necessary.

Note: Do not bend or puncture the evaporator tubing; this can cause refrigerant leaks and permanently damage the unit.
