Possible Causes

Failed compressor start relay, Open compressor overload protector, Defective compressor windings, Loose compressor wiring harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before removing panels. Do not puncture any refrigerant lines.

  • Listen for compressor attempt: When you turn the unit on, listen at the back. A brief click followed by silence may indicate a bad start relay or overload.
  • Access the compressor compartment: Remove the rear lower panel to expose the compressor and its electrical cover.
  • Inspect the start relay and overload: Remove the plastic cover on the compressor terminals. Check the start relay and overload protector for burn marks, rattling (shake the relay gently), or melted plastic.
  • Test components: Use a multimeter to check continuity through the overload and relay according to the service diagram. Replace the compressor start relay/overload kit if open or physically damaged.
  • Check wiring harness: Ensure the Weasy compressor harness is fully seated on all three compressor pins and on the control board connector.
  • If the compressor is hot and hums then clicks off even with a new relay/overload, the compressor windings may be failing. At that point, a sealed system repair by a certified technician is recommended.
