Possible Causes
Failed water circulation pump motor, Blocked pump impeller with scale or debris, Loose pump wiring connector, Seized pump due to mineral buildup
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker and drain any water from the reservoir before removing the pump.
- Check water level: Ensure the reservoir has sufficient water. Some Weasy models will not run the pump if the level is too low.
- Listen for pump operation: During a cycle, you should hear a gentle humming or water trickling. Silence plus E05 suggests a pump or wiring issue.
- Access the pump: Remove the lower front or rear panel to reach the water circulation pump, typically mounted near the reservoir with two hoses attached.
- Inspect hoses and filter: Disconnect the inlet hose and check for clogs or scale. Clean any inline mesh filter screens.
- Check the impeller: Remove the pump cover (if serviceable) and inspect the impeller for mineral buildup or foreign objects. Clean thoroughly with vinegar solution and a soft brush.
- Test the pump motor: With the pump disconnected, measure coil resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. If comfortable and safe, you can briefly power the pump with a suitable test cord to confirm operation (only if you are experienced and understand electrical safety).
- Replace the water circulation pump assembly if the motor is seized or electrically open. Ensure all hose clamps are tight and no leaks occur after reassembly.
