Possible Causes
Misadjusted ice thickness probe, Scale buildup on thickness sensor, Failed thickness sensor switch, Loose probe wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the evaporator to warm slightly before touching any metal surfaces.
- Locate the ice thickness probe: On many Weasy models, a metal or plastic probe hangs near the evaporator plate or grid and senses the ice slab thickness during harvest.
- Clean the probe: Use a soft cloth and warm vinegar solution to remove mineral deposits from the probe surface. Rinse with clean water and dry.
- Check adjustment: Some probes are adjustable via a screw or bracket. Refer to the service manual for the correct gap between the probe and evaporator. Adjust if the gap is clearly too large or too small.
- Inspect wiring: Ensure the probe wires are intact and firmly connected to the control board.
- Test function: If accessible, manually move the probe to simulate ice contact and check for continuity change with a multimeter.
- Replace the ice thickness sensor/probe assembly if cleaning and adjustment do not resolve E11 or if the switch does not change state when actuated.
