Possible Causes
Failed harvest motor (for mechanical grid), Stuck hot gas solenoid valve, Faulty harvest heater (if equipped), Loose harvest motor harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker. Beware of sharp ice grid edges and hot components during harvest.
- Observe harvest attempt: When powered, watch the harvest cycle. If the grid does not move or the ice slab remains stuck, note whether you hear the harvest motor or hot gas valve click.
- Access harvest components: Remove the front cover and ice bin to expose the evaporator grid and harvest mechanism.
- Check for mechanical jams: Look for broken ice pieces, plastic, or scale blocking the grid movement. Clear obstructions carefully.
- Test harvest motor: For Weasy models with a harvest motor, disconnect and measure motor resistance. An open circuit indicates failure. Ensure the motor gear is not stripped.
- Inspect hot gas valve: Locate the hot gas solenoid near the compressor. Check wiring and listen for a click during harvest. Measure coil resistance; replace if open.
- Replace the harvest motor or hot gas valve if they fail electrical tests or do not actuate during the cycle.
