Possible Causes

Failed harvest motor, Jammed ejector mechanism, Broken gear in harvest assembly, Faulty harvest position sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before working near moving parts.

  • Inspect for jams: Open the ice-making compartment and look for broken ice pieces or foreign objects lodged in the harvest/ejector assembly. Remove obstructions carefully.
  • Check motor movement: With the unit briefly powered (and fingers clear), observe whether the harvest motor attempts to turn. If it hums but does not move, the motor or gears may be seized.
  • Test motor and sensor: Unplug the unit, disconnect the motor, and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. If equipped with a position sensor or switch, test for proper continuity as the mechanism is rotated by hand.
  • Lubrication and alignment: Lightly lubricate pivot points with a food-safe lubricant if specified by Westinghouse. Ensure the mechanism is aligned and not rubbing against housing.
  • Replace harvest assembly: If gears are stripped or the motor is defective, replace the complete harvest motor assembly for reliable operation.
