Possible Causes
Failed recirculation pump motor, Blocked pump inlet screen, Airlock in pump, Loose or corroded pump wiring connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit and close the water supply. Expect water spillage when hoses are removed.
- Access the pump: Remove the front lower panel or interior bin components to reach the circulation pump located near the water sump.
- Check for obstructions: Remove the pump inlet screen or filter and clean out debris, scale, or ice fragments. Flush the sump with warm water.
- Bleed airlock: Refill the sump and slightly tilt the unit if needed to help trapped air escape from the pump housing.
- Test the pump: With the pump electrically disconnected and the unit unplugged, measure motor winding resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed pump.
- Inspect wiring: Ensure the pump connector is fully seated and free of corrosion. Repair any damaged wires.
- Replace pump if necessary: If the motor is seized or electrically open, install a new Westinghouse-compatible circulation pump assembly and test for proper water flow during a cycle.
