• Use filtered water: Install or replace a water filter rated for ice makers to reduce minerals and particulates.
• Descale evaporator: Run a cleaning cycle with a manufacturer-approved descaling solution to remove mineral deposits from the evaporator plate and water path.
• Flush lines: After descaling, flush the system thoroughly with fresh water and discard several batches of ice.
• Consider softening: In very hard water areas, consider a whole-house or point-of-use water softener.
