Whirlpool
Motor or Harvest Position Fault
Whirlpool refrigerator ice maker shows F2 and does not harvest ice
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Failed ice maker motor, stripped gear in ice maker module, jammed ejector arm, defective ice maker control module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator or turn off its breaker.
- Inspect for jams: Remove the ice bin and look for cubes stuck in the ejector fingers or between the ice mold and bail arm. Clear any obstructions.
- Manually advance (if possible): Some Whirlpool modules have a test point or manual advance. Follow the tech sheet to initiate a harvest test. If the motor does not run, suspect a bad motor/module.
- Check power to ice maker: With power on (use caution), verify that the ice maker is receiving correct voltage at its connector. If no power, trace back to the refrigerator control board.
- Replace ice maker assembly: If the motor is not running and power is present, replace the complete ice maker assembly, which includes the motor and control module.
