Ice Maker Fill Fault
Whirlpool refrigerator ice maker shows F3 and no water enters the mold

Possible Causes
Failed ice maker water inlet valve, frozen fill tube, clogged filter, low water pressure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and shut off the water supply before disconnecting lines.
- Check water dispenser: If the refrigerator has a dispenser, test it. Weak or no flow suggests a supply or filter issue.
- Inspect fill tube: Look at the plastic tube that feeds water into the ice maker. If it is frozen, thaw it with a hair dryer on low, keeping the heat moving to avoid melting plastic.
- Replace water filter: If the filter is old or clogged, replace it with a Whirlpool-approved filter and flush several gallons of water.
- Test inlet valve: Access the rear of the refrigerator and locate the dual or triple water inlet valve. Use a multimeter to check coil resistance and a test cord or diagnostic mode to energize the ice maker solenoid. Replace the valve if it does not open or is electrically open.
- Restore and test: Turn water and power back on, then wait several hours for the ice maker to cycle. If F3 returns, further diagnosis of the control board may be needed.
