Safety: Unplug the unit before touching moving parts.

Identify noise source: Listen carefully with the front panel removed. Noise near the evaporator may be the circulation pump; noise at the rear is often the condenser fan or compressor.
Inspect fan: Check that the condenser fan blades are not hitting wiring or insulation. Tighten mounting screws and replace the fan motor if bearings are noisy.
Check circulation pump: If the noise coincides with water circulation, inspect the pump for debris in the impeller and signs of wear. Replace the pump if noisy or leaking.
Secure loose parts: Tighten any loose screws, brackets, or tubing clamps that may vibrate against panels.
