Whirlpool undercounter ice maker overflows water into the bin or onto the floor

Safety: Turn off power and shut off the water supply.

• Inspect reservoir float: Remove the front panel and locate the water reservoir and float assembly. Ensure the float moves freely and is not obstructed by scale or debris. Clean with vinegar solution if mineral buildup is present.
• Check inlet valve for seepage: With water on and power off, observe the reservoir. If water slowly rises without a call for fill, the inlet valve is leaking internally and must be replaced.
• Clear drain: Verify the drain line from the bin is not kinked or clogged. Flush with hot water and a mild cleaner to remove scale or slime.
• Test operation: Restore water and power, then monitor a few cycles to ensure the water level stops at the correct height.
