How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit and shut off water before cleaning.
- Discard old ice: Empty the ice bin completely.
- Clean interior surfaces: Wash the bin, reservoir, and accessible water-contact surfaces with a mixture of warm water and mild detergent, then rinse. Follow with a Whirlpool-approved ice machine cleaner and sanitizer per label directions.
- Replace water filter (if present): Install a new Whirlpool filter and flush several gallons of water.
- Flush water line: Disconnect the supply line and flush it into a bucket to remove stagnant water.
- Run and discard first batches: After cleaning, discard the first 2–3 batches of ice.
