Possible Causes
Stuck mechanical bin arm, Faulty infrared bin sensor, Misaligned sensor bracket, Disconnected sensor wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the ice maker before adjusting internal parts.
- Check bin arm: On models with a mechanical shutoff arm, ensure the arm moves freely up and down. Clear any ice or packaging blocking movement.
- Inspect IR sensors: For optical bin sensors, clean the emitter and receiver lenses with a soft, dry cloth to remove frost or dust.
- Verify alignment: Make sure the sensor brackets are not bent and that the emitter and receiver face each other correctly across the bin opening.
- Check wiring: Follow the sensor harness to the control board. Reseat connectors and inspect for broken wires.
- Test sensor: If possible, enter diagnostic mode (see Zanussi service manual) to test bin sensor operation. Replace the sensor assembly if it fails diagnostics.
- Reset and test: After cleaning or replacing the sensor, restore power and confirm that the bin full indicator turns off when the bin is empty and that E10 clears.
