Possible Causes

Blocked drain hose, Failed drain pump motor, Stuck drain level float, Faulty pump wiring or control relay

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the ice maker before servicing the drain system. Water may spill when hoses are removed.

  • Inspect drain hose: Check the external drain hose for kinks, clogs, or incorrect elevation. Ensure the hose runs downhill with no traps that can hold water.
  • Clean internal drain: Access the internal drain pan and pump. Remove any ice, sludge, or debris from the pan and pump inlet.
  • Check float: If a float switch controls the pump, verify it moves freely and is not stuck in the ON or OFF position. Clean mineral buildup.
  • Test pump motor: Disconnect the pump and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed pump. Also check for obstructions in the impeller.
  • Replace pump if needed: Remove mounting screws, swap in a new Zanussi-compatible drain pump, and reconnect hoses and wiring securely.
  • Reassemble and test: Pour water into the drain pan, restore power, and confirm that the pump activates and E13 clears.
