Possible Causes
Protective oils on heater, New cavity coatings, Dust on heating elements, Packaging residue left inside
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: A mild smell is normal for the first few uses, but it should diminish quickly.
- Step 1 – Remove all packaging: Ensure all plastic films, cardboard spacers, and cable ties are removed from inside and outside the cavity.
- Step 2 – Initial burn-in: Run the microwave on grill or convection mode (if available) empty or with a cup of water, following AEG's instructions, for 10–15 minutes with good ventilation.
- Step 3 – Ventilate: Open windows or use an extractor fan during initial uses.
- Step 4 – Persistent smell: If the smell is strong and persists after several uses, have a technician inspect for overheated wiring or components.
