Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave from the wall outlet. Microwaves contain high-voltage components and a high-voltage capacitor that can retain a dangerous charge even when unplugged. If you are not experienced with appliance repair, contact a qualified technician.
- Check door closure: Ensure the Ambiano microwave door closes fully and the latch hooks engage smoothly. Look for cracked or bent plastic around the latch area.
- Inspect door switches (with power disconnected): Remove the outer cabinet (usually Phillips screws at the back and sides). Locate the door switch cluster near the latch assembly. Ambiano countertop models typically use 2–3 micro-switches (primary, secondary, and monitor switch).
- Test the primary switch: Label and disconnect the wires from the primary door switch. Use a multimeter set to continuity. With the door closed, the switch should show continuity between COM and NO; with the door open, it should be open. Replace if readings are inconsistent.
- Check for loose connectors: Reseat the spade terminals on the switch and ensure they are tight and not heat-damaged.
- Replace faulty switch: If the primary switch fails testing, replace it with a compatible Ambiano-style door switch (same rating, typically 16A 250V micro-switch). Reassemble the cabinet and test.
Warning: Do not bypass or jumper door switches. This is a critical safety system.
