Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between keypad and control board, Corroded keypad contacts, Failed touch membrane, Faulty main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave before opening the cabinet.
- Power reset: Unplug the unit for 5 minutes, then plug back in. Sometimes E6 is a transient control glitch.
- Inspect keypad ribbon cable: Remove the control panel assembly (usually a few screws behind the top grille or side). Carefully disconnect and reconnect the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board. Ensure it is fully seated and not damaged.
- Check for moisture or contamination: Look for signs of liquid spills or steam damage behind the control panel. Dry the area thoroughly and clean light corrosion with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush.
- Test keypad: If certain buttons do not respond or trigger E6, the touch membrane may be failing. Replace the control panel/keypad assembly with an Ambiano-compatible part.
- Replace control PCB: If the keypad is known good and E6 persists, the main control board may be defective and require replacement.
