Possible Causes
Metal object or foil in cavity, Damaged or burnt waveguide cover, Food splatter carbonized on cavity walls, Exposed metal edges or chipped cavity paint
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Immediate action: Press STOP/CANCEL and unplug the microwave as soon as you see sparks.
- Remove metal: Take out any metal utensils, foil, twist ties, or dishes with metallic trim.
- Clean cavity: Thoroughly clean the interior with warm soapy water, focusing on areas with heavy splatter or burn marks. Dry completely.
- Inspect waveguide cover: Locate the small plastic or mica panel on the side or top wall. If it is burnt, cracked, or has holes, replace it with an Ambiano-compatible waveguide cover.
- Touch-up paint: If the cavity paint is chipped down to bare metal, use microwave-safe cavity touch-up paint to cover exposed metal after cleaning and drying.
- Test with water: After repairs, test the microwave with a cup of water only and observe for any further arcing.
