Possible Causes

Defective primary door switch, Defective secondary door switch, Misaligned door latch hooks, Damaged door switch wiring harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the microwave from the mains. Microwaves contain high-voltage components that can retain a charge even when unplugged. Do not touch the high-voltage capacitor or magnetron area unless you are trained.

  • Check door closure: Ensure the Amica microwave door closes fully and the latch hooks engage properly. Look for bent or cracked plastic latch hooks on the door.
  • Inspect door switches (interlocks): Remove the outer cabinet (usually several screws at the back and sides). Locate the door switch cluster near the latch assembly. Check that each microswitch actuator is correctly aligned with the latch and not loose.
  • Test switches: With a multimeter set to continuity, test each door switch (primary, secondary, and monitor switch if present). Replace any switch that does not change state (open/closed) when the door is operated.
  • Check wiring: Inspect the wiring harness and connectors to the door switches for heat damage, loose terminals, or broken insulation. Reseat connectors firmly.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the cabinet, plug in the microwave, and test with a cup of water. If E01 persists, discontinue use and contact an authorized Amica service center.
