Possible Causes
Open or shorted NTC temperature sensor, Damaged sensor wiring, Faulty connector on control board, Overheated grill element area
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave and allow it to cool fully.
- Locate sensor: On Amica combination microwaves, the temperature sensor (NTC) is usually mounted on the top or rear of the cavity or near the grill element.
- Inspect wiring: Check the sensor leads for heat damage or broken insulation. Ensure the connector at the control PCB is firmly seated.
- Test sensor: With a multimeter, measure the resistance of the NTC at room temperature and compare with Amica service specifications (typically in the tens of kΩ). An open circuit or near-zero resistance indicates a faulty sensor.
- Replace sensor: If defective, replace with the correct Amica temperature sensor. Route the wiring away from hot surfaces.
- Clear error: After replacement, disconnect power for a few minutes to reset the control, then test grill/convection operation.
