Possible Causes
Welded door monitor switch contacts, Misadjusted door switch bracket, Shorted wiring at door switch cluster
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave before accessing the door switch area.
- Access switches: Remove the outer cover and locate the door switch assembly near the latch.
- Inspect bracket: Ensure the metal or plastic bracket holding the switches is not bent or loose.
- Test monitor switch: Using a multimeter, test the monitor switch according to the wiring diagram. It should change state correctly when the door opens/closes. If it reads shorted when it should be open, it is defective.
- Replace switch: Replace the monitor switch with the correct Amica-rated component. Do not substitute with a non-microwave-rated switch.
- Verify wiring: Confirm that wires are connected to the correct terminals as per the schematic on the cabinet.
