Microwave stops during operation and displays E05; internal light and fan may continue briefly, then shut off.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before any inspection.
User-level checks:
- Ensure vents are not blocked and that there is sufficient space around the microwave.
- Allow the microwave to cool for 30–60 minutes, then try again. If E05 reappears quickly, a sensor fault is likely.
Technician-level checks:
- Access the cavity temperature sensor (NTC), usually mounted on the top or side of the cavity or behind the rear wall.
- Check the connector and wiring harness for loose connections or damage.
- Measure the sensor resistance at room temperature and compare with Balay specifications; replace if out of range or shorted.
- If the sensor tests correctly, the fault may be on the control PCB sensor circuit.
Because the sensor is often integrated into the cavity structure, replacement may require partial disassembly and should be done by a professional.
