Possible Causes
Open or shorted cavity temperature sensor (NTC), Damaged wiring harness to sensor, Faulty main control board temperature input circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave. Do not touch high-voltage components. If you must remove the outer cover, be aware that the high-voltage capacitor can retain a dangerous charge.
- Step 1 – Power reset: Disconnect power for 10 minutes, then reconnect and test. If F2 returns immediately, proceed.
- Step 2 – Locate the cavity sensor: On many Bauknecht microwaves, the NTC sensor is mounted on the top or side of the cooking cavity, accessible after removing the outer cabinet.
- Step 3 – Inspect wiring: Check the sensor’s connector and wiring harness for burns, cuts, or loose connections. Reseat the connector firmly.
- Step 4 – Basic resistance check (for qualified persons with a multimeter): With the unit unplugged and sensor disconnected, measure resistance across the sensor. A typical NTC will show several kΩ at room temperature. A reading of 0 Ω (short) or infinite (open) indicates a bad sensor.
- Step 5 – Replace sensor: If the sensor is defective, replace it with the correct Bauknecht cavity temperature sensor / NTC for your model.
- Step 6 – Control board: If the sensor and wiring are good but F2 persists, the main control board’s sensor circuit may be faulty and require replacement.
- Warning: If you are not experienced with appliance repair, do not remove the cabinet or test internal components; contact a professional.
