Possible Causes
Failed cooling fan motor, Obstructed fan blades, Blocked air ducts or filters, Faulty fan relay on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before inspection. Avoid contact with high-voltage components.
- Step 1 – Check external airflow: Ensure that intake and exhaust vents are not blocked by cabinets, objects, or heavy grease buildup.
- Step 2 – Clean filters: For built-in or hood-combination models, remove and clean grease filters. Replace charcoal filters if saturated.
- Step 3 – Listen for fan: Start a short cycle and listen for the internal cooling fan. If it does not run, the fan motor or its control is faulty.
- Step 4 – Inspect fan area: With the cover removed (by a qualified person), check that the fan blades spin freely and are not obstructed by insulation or debris.
- Step 5 – Replace fan motor: If the fan is seized or electrically open, replace the cooling fan motor assembly with the correct Bauknecht part.
- Step 6 – Control board: If the fan motor is good but never receives power, the control board’s fan relay may be defective and require replacement.
