Possible Causes
Defective membrane keypad, Failed START key contact, Loose ribbon cable to control board, Faulty user interface PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave before removing the control panel.
- Step 1 – Try other keys: Check if other buttons respond (time setting, power level). If only some keys fail, the keypad is likely defective.
- Step 2 – Power reset: Unplug for 5 minutes and reconnect to rule out a software lockup.
- Step 3 – Inspect keypad cable: Remove the control panel and reseat the flat ribbon cable between the keypad and control board.
- Step 4 – Replace keypad/UI: If the START key still does not respond, replace the membrane keypad or complete user interface panel for your Bauknecht model.
