Microwave shows E12; grill function does not operate on combination models.

Safety first: Disconnect from mains and allow the unit to cool completely before working near the grill element.

• 1. Confirm symptom: Select grill-only mode and start. If the element does not glow red after a few minutes and E12 appears, suspect the grill circuit.
• 2. Visual inspection: Remove the top cover (if accessible) and inspect the grill element for breaks, burn marks, or deformation.
• 3. Test element: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the element terminals and measure resistance. An infinite reading indicates an open element that must be replaced.
• 4. Check thermal cut-out: Locate any thermal cut-out devices in series with the grill element. Test for continuity; replace if open.
• 5. Inspect wiring and connectors: Look for heat-damaged insulation or loose spade terminals. Repair or replace as needed.

Note: If the element and thermal cut-out are good, the grill relay or control PCB may be faulty and require professional service.
