Possible Causes

Liquid spill into keypad, Physically stuck button, Shorted membrane contacts, Damaged keypad ribbon cable

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the microwave before working on the control panel.

  • Step 1 – Inspect for spills: Look for signs of liquid or food residue around the keypad. If present, gently clean the surface with a slightly damp cloth and mild detergent, then dry thoroughly.
  • Step 2 – Allow to dry: If a spill recently occurred, leave the door open and allow the control panel area to dry for 24 hours. Do not use heat sources to dry it.
  • Step 3 – Reseat ribbon cable: Remove the control panel, disconnect the keypad ribbon cable, inspect for corrosion, then reconnect firmly.
  • Step 4 – Replace keypad: If SE persists, the membrane keypad is likely shorted. Replace the keypad or entire control panel assembly as specified for your Bomann model.
