Possible Causes
Worn touch membrane, Moisture ingress behind keypad, Loose keypad ribbon cable, Failed control board keypad interface
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave before cleaning the control panel.
User-level steps:
- 1. Clean the panel: Wipe the keypad with a slightly damp, soft cloth and mild detergent. Do not allow liquid to seep around the edges.
- 2. Dry thoroughly: Use a dry cloth and allow the panel to air dry for at least 30 minutes before plugging back in.
- 3. Test multiple keys: Note which keys fail. If entire rows or columns of keys do not work, the membrane or ribbon cable is likely faulty.
- 4. Power reset: Unplug for 5 minutes, then plug back in and test again.
If keys remain unresponsive, the control panel / keypad assembly or control board will need professional replacement.
