Safety first: Unplug the microwave or switch off the dedicated circuit breaker before removing any panels. High voltage is present inside a microwave even when unplugged; do not touch the magnetron, capacitor, or high-voltage wiring.

Steps to try:

• Power reset: Disconnect power for 5 minutes, then restore power and check if F1 clears. Sometimes static or a minor control glitch can trigger this code.
• Check for stuck keys: Gently press each button on the Café microwave control panel. If any key feels stuck or does not click, wipe the surface with a slightly damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Do not spray cleaner directly on the panel.
• Inspect ribbon cable: If you are comfortable removing the upper grille and control panel cover, verify that the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board is fully seated and not damaged. Reseat the connector carefully.
• If F1 persists: The membrane keypad or full touch control panel assembly is likely shorted and must be replaced. On many Café over-the-range models, the keypad is integrated with the control panel frame; replacing the entire control panel assembly is the standard repair.
• When to call a technician: If you are not experienced with appliance disassembly or if the code returns immediately after power-up, contact an authorized Café service technician to replace and program the correct control panel assembly.
