Possible Causes
Failed main control board, Failed display/control interface board, Loose harness between boards, Power surge damage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power to the Café microwave.
Steps to try:
- Power reset: Leave the unit unplugged for 10–15 minutes to allow capacitors in the low-voltage control circuit to discharge. Restore power and check if F6 clears.
- Check for surges: If F6 appeared after a storm or outage, consider using a surge protector rated for microwave ovens in the future (if not over-the-range hardwired).
- Inspect harness (if accessible): Remove the top grille and gently pull the control panel forward. Look for any loose multi-pin connectors between the display board and the main control board. Reseat them carefully.
- Persistent F6: One of the control boards is likely damaged and must be replaced. Because the correct Café part must be ordered by model and serial and may require programming, have an authorized technician diagnose and replace the faulty board.
