Possible Causes

Arcing in waveguide, Damaged waveguide cover (mica plate), Food or grease buildup in waveguide area, Shorted magnetron antenna

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the microwave. Do not operate if you see sparks or burn marks inside.

Waveguide and cavity inspection:

  • Open the door and locate the waveguide cover (usually a small rectangular mica or plastic plate on the side or top interior wall).
  • Inspect the cover for burns, holes, or heavy grease deposits.
  • Clean the surrounding area with a mild detergent and soft cloth; do not soak the mica cover.
  • If the cover is burnt or cracked, remove it (usually held by a screw or clip) and replace with the exact Candy-specified waveguide cover.

After replacement: Test with a cup of water for 30–60 seconds. If arcing, noise, or E13 persists, the magnetron antenna or internal waveguide may be damaged and should be inspected by a professional.
