Possible Causes

Defective START button on membrane keypad, Loose keypad ribbon cable, Faulty control PCB input circuit, Child lock function enabled

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Steps:

  • Check child lock: Many Clatronic microwaves have a child lock. Look for a key symbol on the display. Disable it by holding the STOP/CANCEL or specific key combination as described in the user manual.
  • Test other keys: Press multiple buttons. If some keys respond and others do not, the membrane keypad may be failing.
  • Power reset: Unplug the unit for 5–10 minutes, then plug back in and test again.
  • Inspect keypad cable (technician): Remove the control panel (unplugged) and reseat the flat ribbon cable between the keypad and control PCB.

Warning: If the keypad membrane is defective, it usually needs replacement as a complete assembly.
