Possible Causes
Food residue or grease on waveguide cover, damaged waveguide cover, metal object or foil inside cavity, overheated plastic turntable support
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Immediate safety: Press STOP/CLEAR, open the door, and unplug the microwave. Do not continue to operate until the cause is identified.
Interior inspection:
- Look for charred food, grease buildup, or burn marks on the waveguide cover (usually a small mica or plastic panel on the side wall).
- Remove any metal objects or foil from the cavity; never operate with metal unless specifically allowed by the manual.
- Clean the interior thoroughly with a mild detergent and water, then dry completely.
Waveguide cover:
- If the cover is burned, cracked, or has holes, it must be replaced with a Commercial Chef-compatible waveguide cover before further use.
If smoke or burning smell continues after cleaning and cover replacement, discontinue use and have the unit inspected professionally.
